Day two of my birthday celebrations turned out to be unexpectedly gloriously sunny, so we jumped on the train and took a short journey along the North Sea coast to Arbroath.

I have wanted to visit Arbroath since we moved up to Dundee, it’s a lovely little fishing town famous for it’s abbey and for it’s ‘smokies’ – which are smoked fish, traditionally haddock. The smell of the sea, salt and the smoking process was in the air as we wandered about the sunny harbour, which surprisingly isn’t as unpleasant as it sounds and just adds to the overall maritime vibe.

Before heading up to the abbey to take in some history, we just had to sample one of these famous Arbroath smokies…. those of a squeamish disposition regarding fish may want to scroll past the next couple of pictures….

…they come as a whole fish. Fins, bones ‘n’ all!

As for what I wore: I chose a light and relaxed outfit for the day, especially as I knew it would involve a lot of walking. I’m getting a lot of wear out of my Yours Clothing jeggings recently (previously featured in this post) and I’m a sucker for white shirt! This one is from Peacocks, and as ever with a Peacocks shirt it’s definitely a case of sizing up once or twice if you have breasts.

Those of you that follow me on Instagram will have seen me post about my Bianca Del Rio ‘Not today, Satan’ necklace before, it’s hands down the best thing I have bought for myself this year. It’s from Sugar & Vice, a bright and bold jewellery company that I absolutely love, I have a list of things that I want from there that is as long as my arm!
