Like so many of us, I’ve been in some serious need of cheering up lately. For me, styling a brightly coloured outfit is one way to clear my mind and recharge even if it’s only a little. I have been so excited to bring you this look ever since Wolf & Whistle got in touch to offer me an item from their gorgeous new SS17 curve range, and as soon as I saw their lovely wallpaper print floral frill dress [gifted] I knew exactly how I was going to wear it.

I have been really into the one colour shoes and tights thing since it appeared at the Valentino Resort 2017 (and to a lesser extent at Gucci Fall 2016) shows, so this was a great opportunity to give it a go.

I picked out the bright blue hue from the print to match accessories to, and while the shoes and opaques were planned, the bag being the same shade as well was a complete fluke so I went with it (there’s no such thing as too matchy matchy, right??). In keeping with the cool tones of the look, and to sprinkle in a touch of pattern mixing, I wore one of my winter staple duster coats: the New Look Curves grey and black check pattern jacket.

I love the colours of the print of this Wallpaper Floral Frill Dress. Peach and blue is a really strong colour combination and one that is criminally underused in my opinion, so I’m really happy to see it used so well here. This is the first dress from Wolf & Whistle that I have tried and the fit is just excellent; I’m between two sizes and I’m wearing the smaller one, a UK20, here.

The dress is very comfortable, with an extra couple of inches wiggle room at the waist, accommodating arm holes and a lengthening of the torso meaning the waist isn’t too high. It does appear that considerations have been made for the way that clothes actually fit plus size bodies rather than a simple scaling up of a straight size pattern and I’m incredibly impressed.

One of my favourite things about this dress is the really cute frill detail around the neckline and down the front. Ruffles and frills are very much in for SS17 and teamed with this colour-way, overall, this is a solid and easy to wear on-trend piece for the coming season!
