I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but animal print is here this season in a very big way. Variations on leopard print in particular are cropping up in AW18 collections across the board. As a long term leopard print devotee, I’d argue that it never really went anywhere; I’ve been able to pick up luscious leopard pieces most seasons, but what’s special about it right now is that there are so many alternative versions available. You can find all manner of different colours, different print sizes, abstract takes, and clashing shapes everywhere; all of which has kept my inner Kat Slater very, very happy.
When the lovely people at Unique21 got in touch and asked if I’d like to try out some pieces from their curve range: Unique21 Hero, the red leopard jumpsuit [gifted] leapt out at me immediately. Whilst I usually go for the more traditional brown or gold leopard, I couldn’t wait to get my mitts on this piece and style it up for the crisp November weather.
I think it’s safe to say that I’m officially in love with red leopard print now! I’m really keen on the shape, placement, and pattern of this particular leopard, and the colour is an ever-so-close-to wine red which gives it the perfect autumn vibe. Whilst this would be cute worn alone, it was much too chilly for that when we shot these pictures, so I layered it up with a black skinny rib zip neck top that I picked up from Simply Be forever ago.
Once I’d added the top, the jumpsuit started to feel a bit more casual, so I decided to wear my trusty Vans. On a last minute whim as I headed out of the door I reached for my brown faux fur coat too. For me, that’s a watershed moment: winter is coming when this faux fur comes out of the cupboard!
FIT NOTES: Let’s focus in on the jumpsuit as it’s the shining star of this outfit. It’s available up to a size UK26, and after checking the size guide I decided to go for my usual size. There is no give or stretch in the material, so if you are between sizes I’d advise to size up. I’d also advise to size up if you are particularly tall, I found the body of this jumpsuit to be a little too short for my 5’10” frame.
The design is sleeveless with a faux wrap detail at the front, this forms a v-neck which really shapes the top part of the garment. There is also a tie belt that is held in place by a couple of belt loops, it’s removable so you can switch it out for your own belt if you’d like.
Another feature I love are the wide legs, they’re incredibly comfy and very flowy. An excess of fabric anywhere makes an item feel expensive and high quality to me. Again, they’re ever so slightly on the short side for me personally, but for most they’ll be absolutely fine. I’m planning on taking another couple of inches off each leg to make this into a culotte jumpsuit… there’s no way I’m going to stop wearing this gorgeous print!

Overall, my impression of Unique21 is a positive one. I love their designs, the pieces I have tried have been lovely, and I’m very into the prints and colours they use. If Unique21’s Hero plus size range has piqued your interest after reading this post, then make sure you keep your eyes peeled next week, as there may just be a little cameo in an upcoming post of another of their items!
