As you might have seen on my Insta stories the other week, at the beginning of this month I had the pleasure of spending the day in Newcastle with the incredible Olivia and Katie from Lovedrobe; we chatted about the brand, the #lovedrobeloves campaign, and took some photographs and film of two outfits I’d put together around a couple of my favourite current Lovedrobe pieces. When the day was done, these wonderful women headed back to Manchester and worked their magic, and I’m so excited to be able share with you what we created!
When Olivia first approached me to take part in the #lovedrobeloves campaign, I don’t think either of us realised just how far it was from Dundee to Manchester – so we hatched a plan to meet somewhere in the middle and Newcastle came out on top. It was great to spend a bit of time in a new city, we wandered about around the older parts of the centre, working our way up to the castle and tracking down quirky little nooks and crannies to take some outfit shots.
We also had a chat about Lovedrobe, and the intentions behind the #lovedrobeloves campaign, which really cemented my love for the brand. I’ve always been a big fan of Lovedrobe and they have supported me right from the very beginning of my blogging days. They are a brand with so much heart and soul, I’m really excited to see where they’re headed as they’ve already achieved so much and I’m positive that the only way is up for these angels.
I’d love it if you took a moment to watch the video above; it was great to really get into it, chat about my style inspiration, and why I picked each item. It made me realise that I put much more thought into pulling outfits together than I was aware of! Also, have you ever needed confirmation on whether I’m a cat or dog person?? All is revealed!
For the first look I chose these paperbag waist trousers [gifted] by Topsy Curvy, via Lovedrobe, and paired them with a cute and colourful cami top from F&F at Tesco. I’m still very much on my ‘wear all the trousers in 2018’ trip, and these stylish slacks were such a good pick! They’re comfy, fit super well (I got them in my usual size), and the news we all want to hear… they have pockets. I tucked the cami vest in so you can see the tie waist and I turned up the legs slightly to give a more cropped feel.
Believe it or not this second outfit was my backup look, and it turned out to be my fave of the day. You’ll have seen this City Chic skirt before, I’ve had it for years and it’s been featured on the blog, but wearing it with the bold pink ruffle sleeved top [gifted] has given it a new lease of life. The orange red background of the print clashes with the bright pink just the right amount. Again, the top is in my usual size and fits like a glove.
The colours in the skirt and top do all the talking in this outfit, so I went with some sleek gold accessories and shoes. I carried over the ruffles of the sleeves with the ruffled gold bag (old season ASOS), and these finished off the look with gold flat sandals from Primark.
This was such a great experience, and as my first time being photographed for a street style shoot by a professional photographer, Olivia put me at ease and made me look amazing! If you’d like to get involved in the #lovedrobeloves campaign then I can’t recommend it enough, just pop over an email to Olivia on the email address at the end of the YouTube video above and let her know you’d like to take part.
