Okay, christmas, let’s do this. The decorations are up, the presents are wrapped, I’m all in and raring to go. For me velvet is the ultimate christmas fabric, it’s the one I keep wearing for the main event and in this green velvet swing dress by Alice & You I think I’ve found a serious contender for my christmas day dress for 2016.
I love this dress! The heavy velour is an incredible shade of emerald green and hangs beautifully. I think the fact that the dress is a size too big for me contributes to a great oversized, grungy look and I am very much here for it. I followed the 90’s vibe of the dress by styling it with a pair of chunky Dr. Martens, chunky jewellery and a big leopard print faux fur jacket
I’m usually not too keen on dresses with waist lines this high as they never fit me that well, but somehow this one just works. As Alice & You stuff is notoriously small I decided to size up in this, and would you believe this is probably the only piece of theirs that I didn’t actually need to size up in? It’s very generous, largely due to the swing style, but I feel that sizing up would still be a good move if you have a large bust as you have that bit more material to play with.
My favourite piece in this whole outfit is this adorable candy cane necklace, it’s from this year’s christmas collection over at Black Heart Creatives which is all pretty amazing, you should go check them out! I’m loving building looks around this necklace and I keep finding excuses to wear it all the time while it’s still the holiday season, even the little bell actually works.
I’ve finally had a chance to delve into my recent Colourpop haul and for my eye makeup I used the shades ‘Telepathy’ and ‘Midnight’ from the Kathleenlights collab quad ‘Where the Night Is’. These are some serious shadows; they’re highly pigmented, buttery and super metallic (although admittedly it hasn’t come up in these photos too well!) My lip colour is my new favourite winter shade, Vamp semi-matte by MDMflow, you can read a more in depth review of it here.
So, that’s me sorted for christmas day; do you have your festive outfit picked out yet? If so, what are going to go for?
