I could not be more pleased to bring you this post today, as not only am I going to be talking about this simply perfect green belted shirt dress [affiliate link / gifted] from the wonderful Arched Eyebrow x Navabi collection, but Navabi are also letting me give one away. I KNOW RIGHT!!? For details of the giveaway and how you can win, make sure you read to the end of this post, but first let’s talk about this dress.
I can’t tell you how excited I’ve been to see the release of the Navabi influencer collections, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t the most excited about Bethany Rutter of Arched Eyebrow‘s pieces. When I heard that Bethany would be one of the influencers on board I just knew that her collections would be be colourful, thoughtful and stylish as all holy hell… and MY WORD was I not disappointed.
When the collection launched last month, I eagerly browsed through it all on launch day and found that every single item was something I hadn’t seen done quite so well before in plus sizes. I feel lifted just knowing that these brilliant clothes are out there in the world for plus size babes to buy.
If just window shopping the collection made me happy, then imagine my delight when the angels at Navabi sent me my most coveted piece to review! It fits like magic; I’m between two sizes just now and because of the way this dress is cut – straight and slightly oversized – I opted for the smaller of the two and it’s spot on.
As a tall-ish™ woman I’m also very happy with the length, it falls to just below the knee on me. The belt at the waist is a sweet addition which can be tied in front or behind, if my bow tying skills were any good I’d have loved to have tied it in a big juicy one at the front, but it still looks ace tied in a knot.
The devil is in details with this dress, and my favourite is one that I didn’t discover until I took the dress off after wearing it for the first time: it actually has pockets hidden excellently in the side seams! I also want to draw your attention to the buttons, which are the cutest little shiny black triangles. This finishing touch is, to me, evidence of the care that has gone into the design. I mean, I can’t think of the last time I wore something from a plus size collection and even noticed the buttons let alone felt like a decision had been made about which buttons would work best.
Before I move on I want to quickly shout out the material this dress is made from. It’s substantial in a way that shirt dresses so often aren’t; a thick, slightly textured, viscose / elastane mix which makes this a really great transitional piece (I know, know: it’s August and wayyyy to early to be using that word but you’ve seen the state of the weather we’ve been having.)
As for the styling of this outfit, I knew immediately how I was going to pull it all together before the dress even arrived. The overall collection is a celebration of bold block colour; a splash of blue, pink and red as well as this gorgeous green. I figured I’d style this dress in the spirit of the collection, and I haven’t taken my matching blue heels and bag from this post for a spin in a little while. Plus I think blue and green look great together despite that old rhyme my Nan used to say.
