It was touch and go for a good while, but once I finally knew I would be able to attend the Curve Fashion Festival the other week I felt such a huge wave of relief… which instantly evaporated when I realised I had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WEAR.
That’s where BooHoo Plus came in: this beautiful red wrap maxi feels like it was made for me and is so affordable, costing only £22. On the day itself, everything was so hectic that I didn’t manage to get any outfit pictures for you; but as I promised I’d show you my look, I have recreated exactly what I wore so I can share it with you.
I kept the styling really, really simple because it was forecast to be pretty warm in Liverpool that weekend. Maximum comfort and minimum fuss were required. I wore comfortable tan sandals from Dorothy Perkins with my battered old tan bag and a New Look belt. I love how tan and red look together, and it’s a more summery option than navy or black accessories. The belt is a standard New Look range M/L jeans belt and to my surprise it fits as a waist belt with room to spare.
This dress is so, so red. You can see in the pictures that it’s another one of those intense colours my little old camera very nearly couldn’t cope with! The fit of the dress is really good, if a little generous. I’m between sizes UK20 and UK22 and went for the UK20 with no issues at all.
The length, for a tall person, is awesome! If you are a little shorter then this dress would still work but might need to be worn with heels so the back doesn’t drag on the floor. Personally, I love the drama of a floor sweeping dress but in most city centre / club / bar situations I get that it’s not really practical.
A quick observation: chub rub shorts or similar are a must, one gust of wind and you’d be displaying your knickers to all and sundry!
I also went really simple with my make up. This is much more of a classic look for me: clean, non-winged eyeliner and a red lip. The eyeliner is a budget favourite that I’ll be including in my next affordable beauty roundup, but the lipstick is an incredibly expensive one by Dior. It’s my all time perfect red. It’s also not cruelty free, so I’m trying to find a suitable colour match because when it runs out I won’t be repurchasing.
You’ll have seen these Black Heart Creatives earrings on the blog before, and on my Instagram a hell of a lot, because they’re my favourite goldtone pair. The wonder that is Anna Scholz complemented me about these earrings and made sure to make a note of where I got them from which made me so, so happy! The lady has very good taste 🙂
