…and just like that, it’s all back to normal. Now that the wedding and the honeymoon are over, and the dust has settled a little, a strange feeling has come over me, like, wait did any of that really happen? Everything feels exactly the same, apart from having considerably less money and more grey hairs!
Maybe I’ll write about that feeling sometime, but for my first post back it’s all about my plus size honeymoon wardrobe.

The last time we went away for a beach / pool type holiday, much of what I wore ended up being my old favourite pieces, mainly because in the midst of winter there weren’t many opportunities to pick up new holiday clothes so I went with what I had. This time round though, I was able to add a few newer pieces into the mix. I think I’m slowly building what will become my classic holiday capsule wardrobe… but when I say capsule I, of course, mean ‘capsule for me’ because I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stop myself from overpacking!
I thought I might struggle with things to wear that weren’t bikinis, swimsuits, or varying poolside coverups during the daytime in Lanzarote. Especially with the temperatures set to be around 30°C while we were there. I knew I had to pack some cool and no nonsense pieces that would still make me feel nice when I wore them, and I think I did pretty well in the end!
On one of the very first days we went out to explore I wore a black strappy top and leopard print skirt; luckily that day was probably the coolest of the whole holiday, otherwise the dark colours and slightly heavier material would have had me suffering! In theory, it was an easy breezy daytime look, but in practice I needed to think a bit more about the fabrics I was wearing.

The next two looks from my plus size honeymoon wardrobe: daywear edition, a couple of sundresses from ASOS and Izabel London, were much lighter and cooler. The striped off the shoulder sundress was available in ASOS Curve, Tall, Petite, and the main range, but I went for the one from the tall range to give a little extra length. This was a comfortable, colourful piece to wear out and about for lunch, next to the pool, and down to the beach.
The red floral shirred Izabel London bardot is made of an even lighter fabric, and I found it was just as easy to throw this on to head to the beach as it was to wear for a day wandering about the resort.
Lastly, this Primark tie top and old season Simply Be skirt were a wonderful combination for a day trip to see the home of a local artist. This was such a laid back look, and one I’m definitely going to repeat when summer 2019 comes round.
All I can say is THANK GOD for Evans and the massive swimwear sale they had at the end of August, because I don’t know what I would have done otherwise..! I bought a bunch of bikini tops and bottoms that could be mixed and matched together in 13 different combinations; nearly enough for a different look every day.
I sized up in the two Evans own brand bikini tops as they came in dress sizes rather than cup sizes. They fit well enough and felt comfortable on, even though the cups were still a little bit small as you can see from the slight spillage at the sides. The bottoms were generous and came up very high on the waist which I liked.

The Curvy Kate sets, which I also got via the Evans sale, were a much better fit as they came in back and cup sizes. I’m a 36GG, but went for my sister size of 38G as I like a bit of extra room in bikinis. The red Maya set was by far my favourite, but I also had a plain black Jetty set (not pictured) which I liked wearing on more low key days.
We tended to do a lot more in the day than in the evenings, so I only had a handful of night out looks to pick from for this post. I loved the striped dress from BooHoo Plus (pictured above, old season), which I had been keeping all summer for a special occasion, and the last night out of our honeymoon felt like the perfect time!
The orange floral cami dress that I had picked up from New Look for my friends wedding in July got another outing, as did the very old sparkly strappy Simply Be jumpsuit that always works really well in warm weather.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a peak into my plus size honeymoon wardrobe, if you want to see more then be sure to check out my posts and highlighted stories over on Instagram. If you’d like to know more about Lanzarote, and what we got up to while we were there, I’m planning to write about some of our favourite beaches, places to eat and drink, and day trips in a later post so keep your eyes peeled for that too!
