If you’ve been a reader of this blog for a little while then you’ll know this already, but one of my favourite things about being a fashion blogger is tracking down exciting new, small, or independent brands to try out and then introduce you to. In this vein, I’m super happy to have the opportunity to talk to you about a fresh new plus size brand Love4All which launched TODAY!!! the 12th of April 2018.
Before I get into a full review of this lovely maxi dress* from the new range, I want to take a moment to talk to you about the brand, as I really feel like they’re getting a hell of a lot of things right straight off the bat. Firstly, their size range is inclusive, running from a UK size 14 to 32 (in most cases), with information about the fit of every item on the item page. Secondly, all of their clothing is modelled on the website by three different people with varying body types across the full size range on offer; for me this is crucial for an online plus size clothing business and absolutely amazing to see a small brand implementing straight away.
The collection that Love4All offers includes bright colours, interesting prints and some excellent basics. I was spoilt for choice by their wide range of spring and summer dresses, plus there are a number of jumpers and tops that are already on my wishlist.
I had the opportunity to talk with the owner of Love4All after I had received this dress to review, he was incredibly open and receptive to feedback which I found really refreshing. He was very clear about wanting to make sure that all the pieces Love4All sell were not only more affordable (prices range from £15 to £55) but also good quality too. The quality is something that certainly attest to when I wore the dress for the day I shot the pictures for this post.
What is the Fit of Love4All Like?
I chose a deep wine red wrap maxi dress in my usual dress size. It leapt out at me as a great choice because it looks like one of those wardrobe staples that’s easy to wear and feel great in again and again. I was advised that for this dress the sizing is accurate, so there would be no need to size up or down and that is certainly true. This dress fits like a dream! I wish it was ~slightly~ longer, but I’m 5’10” and maxi dresses in general are very rarely floor length on me; on most this will be a really good length.
There are so many excellent design details in this piece that makes me feel like this is a brand that has done it’s research: the arms are cut correctly so my upper arms are not uncomfortable or restricted, the wrap over skirt has plenty of material so that the wrap actually covers my legs (and I’m not left with an unwanted thigh split!), the height of the v neck can be adjusted according to your personal preference, and – last but not least – the way the wrap tie feeds through the fabric doesn’t pull and expose random midrif skin to the elements.
Overall, this feels like a dress that was designed for a plus size body and not a straight size design that has been scaled up. This makes sense, seeing as though Love4All are setting out to do things properly and be a plus size brand that does the right thing for their customer base.
If you’re intrigued by Love4All and would like to see / try out some of their designs for yourself, their brand new website launched today. Having seen the rest of their range, and knowing how much time and care has been invested in the brand, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that you check them out. If they keep up the level of thought and attention to their customer base, then I can see this brand achieving great things.
