6 of the Best Plus Size Capes

I’m so drunk on the amount of excellent items in the January sales right now, and as an avid cape collector, the fact there are so many of them about with a hefty discount is like all my dreams have come true. So, I’ve been scouring the sales to bring you my top six bright, bold and vibrant plus size capes on offer at the moment…

6 of the Best Plus Size Capes

1.) Lavish Alice Curve Stripe Cape Blazer

I have been lusting after this Lavish Alice cape blazer after seeing it being rocked hard by some of my fellow blogger babes at the tail end of last year. Well, good news for me is that it’s currently in the Simply Be January sale bringing it under my self imposed spending limit for a single item. This is a bold, smart and tailored option for the more discerning cape wearer. Worn over dark foundation garments, such as a black dress or dark jeans and a long sleeved top, this is a statement piece to take you through the depths of winter and into the coming spring.

2.) Elvi Camel Cape

I love camel coloured outerwear, and this warm winter cape is fully lined making it ideal for chilly winter days. The cute leather clasp keeps it securely in place and the deep pockets are a welcome addition. Dress it up or down, it lends a quiet sophistication to any outfit. Add a big blanket scarf or a faux fur collar and you’ve got yourself a classy winter staple.

3.) Jameela Jamil Sequin Cape

Of course it didn’t take long for me to add some sequins to my list. This sequin cape adds a touch of glamour to any outfit. Easy to throw on over any evening wear, the big bow fastening at the neck is a nice little touch. I’d be tempted to try it with a more simple day time look too such as a fine knit jumper and cigarette pants or classic skinny jeans and a long sleeved top.

4.) Yours Clothing Purple Fleece Wrap With Faux Fur Neck and Cuff Trims

The deep purple colour on this casual cape is gorgeous, a regal hue to help combat the greyer of winter days. This is one of the least expensive items on the list, available from Yours Clothing for just £25 (full price). For me, it lends itself to dressing up more casual outfits, think high waisted black jeans or a pencil skirt teamed with flats. However it wouldn’t look out of place as a cover up for a night out. I really like the cute buttons at the neck and the black faux fur trim really sets off the colour. The fleecy fabric is a must for some cozy winter layering.

5.) Persona by Marina Rinaldi Wool Colour Block Cape

Okay, I’ve been a bit off brand here and chosen an item that costs £184.90 (and that’s in the sale, it was £370.90 originally). In my defence, this Persona by Marina Rinaldi cape is bloody incredible. All the warmth and sophistication of the Elvi camel cape but with modern colour blocking across the front. This is something I would need to wear to death in order to justify the price but I can’t see me struggling with that; for smart or casual wear, this statement piece has got you covered.

6.) Feverish Asymmetric Wool Button Cape

This is my favourite colour out of the bunch by far. I know 2016 is meant to be the year of pastels but this bold yellow speaks to me. Currently in the Simply Be January sale; it also comes in camel, grey and black (why you would choose any of those more muted colours over this little ray of sunshine I couldn’t say). This would look lovely with most autumnal colours and, of course, would offset an all black ensemble brilliantly. As we head for (hopefully) milder weather, chunky flats and opaque tights would look great with this cape. And if we stay cold, snowy and wintery for the foreseeable future, a bright pair of yellow wellies would look good too…
