I have been coveting Colourpop stuff for months now and when they recently ran a free international delivery promotion I knew the time had come for me to finally make the order I couldn’t stop thinking about. I particularly wanted a number of their eyeshadows and lip colours. It took some time to finally narrow down my choices but I settled on the Zingara and Where the Night Is eyeshadow quads along with the Lippie Stix in Lady, Ellarie, and I <3 This.
The first product in my online shopping bag was this gorgeously festive eyeshadow quad ‘Where the Night Is’ which is the Kathleenlights collab. The colours in this collection are BEAUTIFUL. I was most enamoured by the gold green Telepathy and burnished black Midnight, but when I swatched the collection I was really surprised to find that pearlised, pink rose Weenie was by far my favourite. I was most disappointed in the burgundy Porter, whilst the texture is really nice the colour is not anywhere near as pigmented as the others and the gold glitter it’s supposed to contain is way too subtle.
With all the metallics in the first quad, I went with a collection made up mainly of mattes for my second choice. The rich, warm Zingara is a lovely little foursome made up of some delicious, but not necessarily statement, shades. The terracotta Elixir is amazing as a transitional shade, and I really like that the burgundy Paradox is actually cool toned although it does take some building up to achieve a good coverage. Seeker is a really versatile reddish brown that I can see me using a lot this winter, and Jinxie is sweet pearlised gold that I love for highlights and the inner corner of the eyes.
On to the lip colours (please forgive the swatches above as they were done without a lipliner; I have skinny little lips when not lined, but I really wanted to show you how they look on). I have been so excited to try the Lippie Stix as I have never fully got along with liquid lipsticks at all. I wanted to go for some truly autumnal / winter colours so the dark brown Lady and deep cranberry Ellarie fell into my basket almost without a second thought. The fuschia I <3 This was a bit of an outside bet but very similar to an old Seventeen lip colour I have that is about to run out so I’m super pleased with it anyway.
Each of these Lippie Stix has a matching lip liner available which is absolutely necessary for my lips, gone are the days I used to be able to get away with wearing lip colour alone. The formula does bleed very easily especially on the dark brown shade: Lady. All three of these shades are meant to be ‘matte’ but they stay moisturising, smooth and creamy enough that I’d class them as more of a satin finish… maybe semi-matte at an absolute push. On the plus side, they aren’t drying in the slightest.
For the price, Colourpop really can’t be beaten. Their range is dynamic and interesting, with such a huge spectrum of colours that it’s nearly impossible to not find exactly what you’re looking for. I really like the almost ‘cream to powder’ consistency of the eyeshadows, it makes them so easy to work with. As superficial as this is: it’s the smell of the Lippie Stix that I like most about them, I wish they were a little more long lasting but they have such a gorgeous vanilla scent.
