Welcome to this, my 4th affordable beauty roundup which will be my last one of 2016. I just had to sneak it in before the new year as I love taking you through all the inexpensive favourites from my make up bag. This month I have a cult favourite, some bargain glam glitter and a little sneak preview of a brand new product that will be launching in the UK in 2017. Hope you enjoy my recommendations for December!
As usual, I have been using all of these products for at least a month to give them a decent run for their money. My skin is uneven and oily with an annoying tendency to be dehydrated, plus I have some fine lines so all reviews are based on that skin type. I’ll also just add I’m not a pro beauty blogger. I’m a fashion blogger who has rediscovered her love for all things beauty, as ever these recommendations are for things I genuinely use and love.
My first recommendation this month is for a bit of a cult favourite: the L’Oreal Glam Bronze in ’00 Blond Sun’. Previously, my perfect bronzer had been the Aerin Pretty Bronze Illuminating Powder in Level 1, which has sadly been discontinued. In my search for an alternative I came across this L’Oreal product, it’s an excellent little bronzing powder that, crucially, isn’t orange on my skin.
It’s completely matte and lasts all day, I apply it to my face everywhere I would naturally catch the sun and then blend it out a little bit before starting my contouring. It gives a very similar effect to the much more expensive Aerin product. Although I am pretty fair, if you are very, very fair you may want to swatch this first as it may read a little bit orange in your case.
The second recommendation is a little bit special as it is not yet available in the UK. It’s the Universal Beauty (UB) Secret Flush in #4 Nectar; a dual purpose product (I love multi purpose make up!) for use as a blush and a lipstick. The smooth creme formula smells incredible and is gorgeously buildable, giving you the flexibility to have a subtle or a more dramatic look as required. I love the shade too, it turns out that it’s a perfect match for the Sleek Makeup Rose Gold Blush that I’m in love with and I very often wear the Sleek as a blush and this as a lip colour.
As mentioned above, this product won’t be available in the UK until next year (I got this one in a beauty box last month as part of their pre-launch promotions) so if you fancy giving it a try then keep an eye on UB’s website and social media for a UK launch date. In the meantime, I have linked to some very similar products in the ‘Shop the Post’ widget below.
My final recommendation is something a bit more glitzy. It’s so close to New Years Eve I really thought some glitter was in order! I have been buying these Collection Glam Crystals gel liners for YEARS. So long, in fact, that one of them is still has the old branding: ‘Collection 2000’. This bargain little product comes in 14 different colours and I think I’ve pretty much owned all of them at some point. They are easy to apply, long lasting and ridiculously cheap.
I always worry about loose glitter around my eyes, but here it comes suspended in either a clear or a tinted gel (depending on the shade) and they really are super sparkly (glitter and sparkle products are so difficult to photograph, but trust me they look lovely)! The three swatched here are my most favourite: the turquoise ‘Le Freak’, silver-multi ‘Hustle’ and gold-black ‘Dig It!’. Regardless of price they are the best glitter liner I’ve ever used, plus I’ve used them on my lips, cheeks and lids with great success.
