During one of my many lost hours of browsing and pinning on Pinterest I came across an article from Who What Wear (US) that proudly proclaimed yellow to be the colour of SS16, and I suppose it was… in a way. But I’m fairly certain I didn’t see anywhere near as many yellow pieces last year as I’m seeing right now; both on bloggers, in fashion week street style pictures and in SS17 collections themselves.
In fact I initially thought the article was about this year until I checked the date. So whilst there’s no doubt that pink is definitely the big colour story for the coming season, I really feel like yellow is still rumbling on from last year as a bit of a sleeper hit.
And I couldn’t be happier! I absolutely love yellow, it’s not one I wear as often as I’d like, and it can be difficult to build an outfit around. Classic yellow and black, or yellow and white, always looks great; but mixing it up with blues, greens and reds is just as striking.
After reading the WWW article I started browsing Pinterest for yellow items (as you do), and as usual my wish list got way out of hand really quickly, so I’ve narrowed it down to my absolute favourites to share with you here. If you’re a fan of sunny yellow, through to neon and mustard, then this is the wish list for you! 💛
There’s lots of M&S on this list as there are some absolutely gorgeous, affordable pieces in M&S at just now. They had such a great AW16 and are still looking really strong for the coming season, I mean those trousers are way out of my comfort zone but still really speak to me.
As ever, ASOS have some really cool yellow pieces in their Curve range, that embroidered dress is so dreamy 😍. I’m also really into the Manon Baptiste dresses, they’re ever so cute and perfect for spring… if a little over budget for me but, y’know, a girl can dream!
So how are you feeling about yellow as a spring / summer colour? Are you a fan or do you prefer the seasons biggest colour: pink? Let me know in the comments!
