What I’ve Been Wearing Lately: Casual Plus Size Outfits

The last month has been STRANGE, and I’ve not blogged much as a result. I’ve been battling a huge flare in my chronic pain alongside celebrating my birthday, my three year anniversary with my partner and just trying to leave the flat more in general, but every trip added a little more debt into the pain bank which I’m now paying back. So today I thought I’d collect together the more casual, everyday outfits I’ve been wearing and posting up on the Looker app lately – if you have Looker already, or you fancy joining, then you can find me and add me to your team by searching ‘Zoë Meers’.

Anyway, without further ado, onto the outfits….

This ensemble is what I wore for my birthday day out. We headed over to a new bar in town that I’ve wanted to check out ever since it opened a few months ago, the Bird & Bear: we ate loads, drank huge pints and just generally had a lovely time. I wore my old faithful ‘casual but versatile’ outfit combination which is a bright skirt and a big belt teamed with a pair of daps (usually Vans or Cons) and a comfy tee. I find that this is one of those outfits that I can fall back on if I’m not exactly sure what the afternoon / evening is going to turn into, as it can take me anywhere!

Next up we have this outfit that I wore out for anniversary drinks. I promised I’d try to wear trousers more often, and as the weather had already started to turn I figured it was the perfect opportunity to dust off this pair of burnt orange skinny jeans from ASOS. I struggled with a colour to wear them with, so opted for classic black – and it meant I could wear this bargain jacket from M&CO which I picked up on a visit down to my parent’s place in July. I loved this outfit! It was so simple, easy to wear and I felt kinda chic even though I was dressed so casually.

So this is my attempt at festival attire. We bagged some free guest tickets to the inaugural Carnival 56 here in Dundee, which was an interesting experience to say the least. Again, the weather was changeable, so I chucked on this jersey polka dot maxi from Simply Be (also available in plain black and monochrome stripe which I also own) I just know it’s going to feature heavily in my autumn wardrobe this year – it’s so comfortable and looks great! I loaded on the gold accessories and thought I’d treat the festival goers to a glimpse of my stomach so knotted my plain white t-shirt. This was a lush day, I got to see one of my fave bands – Honeyblood – and drink some local lager in a field.

This outfit was the result of one of those ‘urgh, I have nothing to wear’ wardrobe raids before a warm night of drinks and dancing. I have had this leaf print shirt dress in the back of my closet for so long I don’t really remember where it’s from, I think it was Koko. The print is so busy that I went neutral with my accessories, sticking to tan and gold. Those sandals though… omg they injured my feet so badly! I picked them up from Dorothy Perkins last year and never had problems with them before, but this time the straps cut my feet by the end of the night so I unceremoniously threw them in the bin the next morning. I’ve found some near identical ones from ASOS that I’m planning to replace them with!

Finally, we have this SUPER LAZY outfit that I wore out for evening drinks on what might actually have been the last pleasant Friday evening of 2017. I’m wearing a light bleach wash pair of high waisted Lucy jeans from Simply Be, but I’m hoping to up my denim game for the coming season and am eyeing up some of the new plus size Levi’s – I might even branch out from my signature skinnies and pick up a straight legged pair! I also wore this ‘The Future is Accessible’ tee to show my disability pride as well as support for Annie Segarra (content creator, YouTuber, and intersectional activist).

So that’s what I’ve been wearing lately in my day to day life, I enjoy recommitting to showing you more casual outfits. I love the super dressed up and styled content that I put on the blog, and I have fun putting them together, but sometimes simple is best y’know?
