Wearing ALL THE TRENDS to the Enchanted Forest

 Enchanted Forest Pitlochry 2017

At the beginning of this month, me and Andrew headed up to Pitlochry on the train to go and see our favourite thing in Scotland: the Enchanted Forest. This year the theme was ‘The Edge of the Water’ and the lake was very much at the heart of the display. I’d been looking forward to this day / evening out for ages, and I hadn’t left the flat for over a week, so I might have gotten a little carried away with my outfit as it appears I wore ALL THE TRENDS of the moment at the same time!

I was unsure what the weather was going to be like, and we planned to be out all day, so I knew layering was the way to go. After a recent ASOS shopping spree I had the cosy red jumper and striped roll neck dress ready to wear together, and the grey check duster coat complemented both perfectly.

This grey check coat was one of my favourite buys of last year, I picked it up from New Look Curves and have featured it a few times on the blog since then. The absolute all encompassing explosion of grey check in AW17 (I chatted about the grey check trend last month here) has meant that this coat is really getting it’s time to shine just now, I have never ever been ahead of the curve like this in my whole clothes wearing career!

We made sure we arrived in Pitlochry early enough to have a stroll, grab some dinner and have a drink. We stopped at a lovely little family owned restaurant, Victoria’s, to line our stomachs with some ridiculously scrummy food and then drink some pretty lovely beer that turned out to be their own brew.

 Food before the enchanted forest

All the food, beer and walking about made me grateful for wearing lots of layers as I took my coat off for a while to get some fresh air. This gave me the perfect opportunity to get a picture of the outfit without the coat, so you can see just how oversized this jumper is! It isn’t from ASOS’s Curve range, it’s actually from their Tall section and is a size 16. As I’m a size 18, you can see just how big and baggy it is on me so sizing down once or even twice would still be totally fine – it’s hands down my favourite knit of this year and I wear it all the time.

At this point, all there was left to do was to board the coach to the Enchanted Forest. We had earlier tickets than we usually get, so the very last of the light was disappearing as we pulled up to the entrance. As in previous years, there were lots of interesting and interactive things to get involved in – from the storytelling hut to an open fire where you could buy and roast marshmallows! But for me it’s all about the mulled wine and colourful lights!

Wearing all the trends to the enchanted forest

I’ve never experienced anything quite like the Enchanted Forest before, and since we first visited in 2015 it has had my heart. It’s something I’m going to make sure I go to for as long as I live up in this neck of the woods and I’m so happy we have such a magical event on our doorstep! If you find yourself in the vicinity of Pitlochry during September and October then I’d totally recommend you check it out, whilst it’s nearly over for 2017 they’re planning their 2018 shows already!
