As a woman of modest means, I treat every change over of the seasons – and the sales it usually brings – as a my big chance to grab one or two investment type beauty items to fill the gaps that have appeared in my make up bag. So far this year, all of my big investments have unintentionally been skincare related, and now I’m sorted in that area I really don’t want to mess about with the winning formula. So, for AW17 my beauty wishlist is all makeup, makeup and more makeup!
1.) First up is the new Urban Decay Naked Palette, Naked Heat – I feel like the only blogger who doesn’t have this already tbh. When it was first announced, I kinda thought ‘well great yet another Naked palette just what we all need’ but when it was released and people started using it I very quickly saw the need. The rich, warm tones look absolutely divine on all my fellow green eyed babes and it has the usual highly pigmented buttery shadows that you’d expect from UD. The super cute metallic 80’s packaging helped to win me over too.
2.) Next is my all time favourite mascara: Doll Eyes by Lancôme. It’s just over £20, which makes it that little bit too expensive to restock all the time. I promise I’ve been trying to find an affordable equivalent but nothing is anywhere near as good… pals, I just want my old mascara back!!
3.) I’m a sucker for sparkle and shine so therefore I need the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter in Metal Moon in my life. It looks almost white in the pan but it glides on as an exquisitely warm golden pearl. The powder is finely milled and silky, and it crucially doesn’t cling to all the lumps and bumps and large pores on my face like so many other highlighters can do.
4.) I very much enjoyed my encounters with metallic blue lip colours this year, so for Autumn and Winter I want to swap out the blue for green with this delightful metallic dark green shade ‘Jade’ by Coloured Raine. This stuff is incredible, and if you’re quick there’s a sale on right now so you could pick up this shade for 40% less (I think I’m saying this for my own benefit really as what better excuse for me to finally take the plunge than A SALE??!!).
5.) Lastly, as we’re headed for the colder weather it’s time to crack out the ol’ full coverage foundation; which for me means retreating back to Estée Lauder Double Wear (in the shade ‘Bone’) with my tail between my legs. I constantly try to shake things up with regards to my foundation, most recently I’ve been trialling Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra (in the shade ‘Beige Ivoire’) and whilst I quite like it, the coverage and longevity on my oily acne prone skin pales in comparison to the Double Wear. So this takes up it’s annual spot on my AW17 beauty wishlist for worry free skin this coming season.
And that’s everything! I appreciate that my idea of an ‘investment’ might be very different to yours, but to me these are things I’m having to actively save up for and really want and need. I’ve had to be absolutely savage in order to narrow it down to just these five options, so rest assured that to me this is the best of the best for my AW17 beauty wishlist!
